Amelia’s Teisha Helgerson passes away from cancer

Last Thursday, Teisha Helgerson, the singer, guitarist and drummer for the band Amelia, died after her long battle with cancer.

Amelia formed in 2001 when Scott Weddle saw Helgerson perform with her family band Say Uncle. Weddle, whose band The Flatirons had just disbanded, was overwhelmingly impressed with her voice and stage presence and he asked her to perform with him.

After performing with her as a duo, Weddle enlisted Jesse Emerson on bass and Rich Cuellar on drums and together they formed the original line up of what would become the band Amelia. The band would later continue performing as a trio consisting of Helgerson, Weddle and Emerson with Helgerson moving from guitar to drums while still retaining her position as primary vocalist.
